I haven't noticed any slowdown, but I think you need to completely turn off the power and wait 30 seconds for the firmware to be properly applied.

It only ever happened once and it was on 7B2QJXD7 
it had been on that firmware for ages (release day) and ofc powered off multiple times
i updated to 8B2QJXD7 straight away hopefully it never does it again

Yes, Samsung regularly provides updates for their SSDs, like others, but performance and stability also vary depending on the AMD or Intel chipset..
