Hello everyone, here's one last update in case it might be useful. Instead of installing via the exe I extracted the driver files and installed via install.bat in cmd admin. The files have all been installed. Upon reboot, the sound card with Windows drives is detected. I used ddu to remove the realtek drivers, but in device manager there is no trace of Asus. Where are the drivers copied when the installation ends?

They are listed under "Sound, Video and game controllers" as "Realtek(R) Audio" (UAD drivers) or "Realtek High Definition Audio" (HDA).
You'll never find the name of Asus Audio, MSI Audio, Gigabyte Audio, etc... in the device manager, because the drivers are developed by Realtek for the manufacturers of your board or notebook.
The way you installed the drivers is the better way, no need to run any installation program.
If you open the device manager, you'll maybe find under additional items from Realtek which you can update the same way like you did with the Audio drivers and/or under Audio Processing Units (APO) also a Realtek driver listed which can be updated the way you did.
Cheers
