Is there any difference between ASUS drivers and normal ones?

the Asus specific 8858 FF00 & FF03 HDA drivers have specific INF files [well I peaked inside their zip files using 7zip]
FF00 > HDXAMA.inf, HDXAMA3.inf, HDXASNahimic.inf, HDXCR.inf, HDXMB2O.inf, HDXROG.inf, HDXRT4.inf, HDXRT4ICE.inf, HDXSF.inf, HDXSF3.inf & HDXTHX.inf
FF03 > only HDXAsNahi.inf
(none of them support the hardware ID number for Asus Z97-E - seems like a few certain ASUS boards & laptops will not work with the 8858 Asus HDA drivers)

on the other hand, the "normal", generic HDA drivers include the HDART.inf (for x86/32bit) & HDXRT.inf (for x64/64bit) files which will work with nearly every Realtek HD audio device regardless of hardware ID.

tough luck, Vonray1911. you need the generic HDA drivers with HDXRT.INF and the Asus specific ones never include the generic hdxrt.inf file. you either have to use an older generic HDA version or wait for a new one to come out.

Unofficial Realtek UAD Generic 6.0.8862.1
Due to Realtek moving HDXRT.inf and HDXRTSST.inf hashes from hdxrt.cat to hdxrtu.cat in 6.0.8825.1 and the absence of a hdxrtu.cat copy for current version, it wasn't possible to make a Realtek UAD Generic package for old systems that is 100% WHQL compliant. To workaround this setup installs latest WHQL compliant codec component (version 6.0.8856.1) with hardware support application, audio effects and service components taken from latest version and then a force updater is used to replace the old codec component (RTKVHD64.sys and RTAIODAT.DAT) with its latest version.

In addition to stable release open source setup, this release includes a development version of open source setup - setup-dev.cmd. It supports deletion of all side by side generic UAD components from driver store at once.

Unofficial Realtek UAD Generic 6.0.8863.1

In addition to stable release open source setup, this release includes a legacy version of it kept as fallback until this bug hunt expires as I wanted to avoid another buggy releases streak similar to 6.0.8835.1 to 6.0.8841.1 when implementing complex features.

you're welcome Vonray1911.

8862 FF00 HDA generic version recently came out - you may want to use this new one on your asus board
but I'll keep 8858 FF00 Asus on my friend's Asus M5A78L board since there's no big difference between 8858 & 8862
the rest of my PCs that have Realtek audio chips will be updated to 8862 FF00 soon

unrelated note:
v6.0.8832.1 from MS Update Catalog (like with 8825 UAD, 8832 UAD from MUC includes generic hdxrt.inf & hdxrtsst.inf files with hdxrtu.cat signature file)
