Guys,

Sorry if this is a dumb question or has been asked before. I have a Gigabyte Z370 HD3 motherboard which has a Realtek ALC892 Audio Codec. I found Realtek drivers version 6.0.1.8531 on Windows Update Catalog found here https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=786e3a6d-1af4-415d-8ed6-69988a4233b4

I was really wondering if this driver is the correct one for my motherboard.

Is there a driver with these files? DTSU2PGFX64.dll, DTSU2PLFX64.dll, DTSU2PREC64.dll. They are needed for DTS UltraPC 2. Without them does not work DTS UltraPC2.
8536_FF00 Generic
8536_FF01 with FMAPO
8536_FF03 with Nahimic
8536_FF04 with CXAPO
8536_FF06 with MaxxAudio
8536_FF10 with Creative
8536_FF0C with DTS/SST without them.
Maybe there is 8536_FF02 or FF05 with them? Thanks for advice.

no sorry, lap99. last versions to have DTSUltraPC2 files was 8158 FF02 and 8186 (R2.82) . also need DTSU2P.DAT configuration file found in some Realtek audio driver packs from ASUS when using certain old ASUS motherboards that came with DTS Ultra PC 2 audio (AND be running only Windows 7) for that to actually work.

DTS Ultra PC II is discontinued in newer driver packs since it may not work for Windows 8.1 & Windows 10.

JohnnyGUI: the 8531 drivers are okay for your Gigabyte board as I tested them on my Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 board also using an ALC892 audio chipset.

I apologize beforehand because this is going to be a long post, but I'll try to make it readable.

I have to say that at least for the uninitiated choosing a Realtek audio driver seems to be a daunting task. I have two machines right now, both Dell, one with INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0225&SUBSYS_1028073D (an Inspiron 5568, the one I'm writing from) and the other one is an Inspiron 5570 with an ALC3246 (I don't have its ID right now).

For them, Dell provides what I think it is an HDA driver, 6.0.1.8224 for the 5568 and 6.0.1.8425 for the 5570. They're FF06 from what I could see in the INFs and come with Waves MaxxAudio.

I've tried several (newer?) versions of the FF06 HDA drivers that you've kindly posted in this post, all of which seem to work well and the Dell Audio application that loads at system startup has the appropriate MaxxAudio sections.

Now, I decided to look at what kind of driver they provide for the newly released 5580 which sports an ALC3254 and it is 6.0.1.8485. And either I'm not comprehending how things work... or they're deliberately choosing older versions of the drivers even for newer products (the one's in this thread for example are 85xx).

Anyway, I chose to uninstall the ones I had in the 5570 and install those instead, since its ID was supported I assumed it was supported. And it is, but there's now no Dell Audio app, there's a Waves MaxxAudio Pro store app that was installed as well and that's the equalizer to use now. So... those drivers would actually be UAD drivers?

After all of this introductory text... these are some things I wonder:
- Is UAD the future? I mean, is HDA being phased out so I should stick to UAD? I'm still seeing newer versions of the HDA drivers being posted here though. Is there any benefit in UAD?
- Should I not use any special driver at all? I mean, inbox drivers of Windows 10 seem to work, there's sound and all (no equ though).
- The difference between the FFxx drivers is just the equalizer they are bundled with? I've seen at least one of my HIDs listed in several ones.

And the last part is about Intel's Smart Sound something, what's its relation to all of this? Some packages seem to include drivers for it and others seem not to...

I'm sorry for the myriad of questions I've put in this post, it seems there's still much I have to learn haha. I guess ultimately the question becomes... which are the recommended drivers to use? Sticking to the ones the manufacturer provides? Maybe those that are in the GitHub page (UAD I think)? Maybe the latest HDA posted here?

Anyway, I leave here the links for the drivers that Dell currently provides for these lappies, in case they're of use of someone:
5568: 6.0.1.8224 (HDA)
5570: 6.0.1.8425 (HDA)
5580: 6.0.1.8485 (UAD?)

Thanks a million for all your time reading and processing this, I appreciate it.

Thanks for answering ex58 and erpster96, i have dtsu files 8412 and 8483, i dont remember where i get them exactly, but i think get them from some ftp (i lost login and password). i use files dtsu 8483 for 8531, just copy this 3 files in x:\windows\system32 and in command line regsvr32.exe C:\Windows\System32\DTSU2PGFX64.dll
regsvr32.exe C:\Windows\System32\DTSU2PLFX64.dll
regsvr32.exe C:\Windows\System32\DTSU2PREC64.dll
and then dts ultrapc2 effects works.
I just thought that somewhere new drivers with dts, if there are 8412 and 8483.
Anyway, thanks again.
