Thanks. Well, it looks like I'm sitting on the FF04 driver. Is it significantly different from the FF00 or while the Realtek HD Audio Manager works for me - I don't have to worry about anything?

though Microsoft has just posted a "generic" v6.0.8934.1 HDA driver on MS Update Catalog on June 3:

( 149.4mb cab download )

this one is an FF01 version instead of an FF04 version
[IntcAzAudModelAddReg]
HKR,Settings,EffectComponents,0x00010001,0xFF01

FF01 - Fortemedia (FMAPO) integration

FF01 based Realtek HDA drivers work best on most HP and Lenovo brand PCs with Realtek audio hardware since these specific brand computers do use the FMAPO integration files. the fmapo dll files are unused on other brand pcs beside HP & Lenovo

----

for others using Realtek UAD drivers:
v6.0.8940.1 UAD "non-generic" on MS Update Catalog (posted 6/3/2020):
http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=6.0.8940.1

I say non-generic because the hdxrt.inf file is no longer included in newer UAD drivers since v6.0.8904.1
I guess Realtek wants their newer UAD/DCH drivers to run only on modern computers and not on older ones (aka those "old" pcs with AMD FX or 6th gen Intel core [Skylake] & older cpus)

only HDA FFxx drivers have the generic hdxrt.inf file

Can you or anyone explain what are all those FFxx series how many of them exist in all total & what are the usage of having so many different FFxx? I mean a good chart mentioning all along with the ALC codec best compatibility should have been pinned at top for ease of convenced for all.

That is a good idea... I second this request for a chart...

UAD drivers install on DELL computers except after it generates an error with WU saying that driver is newer than the one offered by WU. We will try again.

Wish I could install the drivers I want without WU getting involved.
