Got it, thanks. I hope it will resolve the shut down issue as it claims. My PC never seems to properly shut down despite having Fast Startup disabled both in Windows and BIOS.

can anyone tell me from where I need the check this MEI firmware version & how to properly update this?

Also, what's the benefit of this? Like the s/w driver, updating h/w firmware doest it comes with any changelog or improvement?

P.S: Also, what are the CPU & generations that support this? I have a number of PCs each consisting iCPU from 2nd gen up to 8th gen every gen, so asking this.

first, read on the page I've suggested you (win-raid) about distinguishing the versions.
you have an "U" processor - which implies you need 11.8 "LP" firmware.. (LP = Low Power)
there are two versions of this firmware, for standard laptops (consumer) and for business (corporate)..
I assume, your's is the standard (consumer) laptop..

first you have to download v11 tools
Intel CSME System Tools v11 r32
Extract contents from archive. Make new folder for example on desktop, name it "ME" and copy these files to new folder..

\FWUpdate\WIN64\FWUpdLcl64.exe
\MEInfo\WIN64\Idrvdll32e.dll
\MEInfo\WIN64\ISHLib64.dll
\MEInfo\WIN64\MEInfoWin64.exe
\MEInfo\WIN64\Pmxdll32e.dll

run windows PowerShell (Admin) and navigate to your folder
cd C:\Users\XXXX\Desktop\ME

(XXXX is name of your profile)

Now you can execute MEInfoWin64 and you will see all the details about your current MEI firmware.
.\MEInfoWin64.exe

To update the firmware, first download the latest version Intel CSME 11.8 Consumer PCH-LP C Firmware v11.8.78.3681

extract the 11.8.78.3681_CON_LP_C_NPDM_PRD_RGN.bin and put it in the ME folder.

Then to update, just execute
.\FWUpdLcl64.exe -f .\11.8.78.3681_CON_LP_C_NPDM_PRD_RGN.bin

wait until 100% and reboot. After reboot, run MEInfoWin64 again to check the version..
