Guys, it's a rather simple codec ( the Realtek Audio ). Better try the latest your codec supports. For instance ALC892 is one of the most stable out there and now the 1220 which is by far the best is catching up as it seems ( good for us ). Both support the latest.

Yours being the 887 I'm pretty sure will support the latest HDA drivers. Try 'em and unless you find serious bugs, keep 'em. Simple as that.

I'm telling you this especially because for a rather old ALC codec like yours, one God knows which driver is "the best".

Any guide on how to install these drivers in SVF file format? If I understood it correctly, you have to drag and drop the 8549_WHQL.svf file onto the 8549_FF0C_PG468_Win10_RS1_RS2_RS3_RS4_Win7_WHQL.bat file, is that right?

No, you did not even understand WHAT the is, it is not a driver, just the supplements for it.

latest FF00 driver, bordo38 (though you did not mention the hardware ID number of the ALC887 chip - use the site below on how to find hardware ID of the Realtek audio device)
www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sl...-hardware-id?lang=en

My friend's ASUS M5A78L-M LE/USB3 board also use Realtek ALC887 audio chip, Le Grec (you can look up this board on the ASUS web site) - hardware ID no. of the ALC887 on M5A78L-M LE/USB3 is "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_10438576" & installed thru the HDXRT4.inf file - I use either FF00 or FF01 for his Asus board.
