trinca created the topic: Firmware for Probox USB 3.1 Enclosure HDK-SU31
EN
Hello Everybody:

1. I am in need of firmware for the above box. It is manufactured by Mediasonic in Canada, but you can find it as Probox and Hotway brands, same model.

Here are the details:
Manufacturer: Probox, Mediasonic, Hotway.
Model: HDK-SU31
Interface: USB 3.1 Type C, supports Gen 2 10GB/sec transfer rates
Bridge: ASMEDIA ASM 1351
Please find the pictures attached

2. What is the right way of dumping the firmware of this enclosure?

Thank-you for any help you can give me.

Thank-you for your prompt response.

I tried already the MPTOOL and the latest software you indicated.
Unfortunately the latest firmware 161202_B5_20_08.bin is for a RAID box
(Minipro RAID v3) and does not work with this Probox.

I also tried the other firmware (151030_B1_0B_01.bin) and it gives problems at
formatting the HDD.

I tried several other ASM 1351 firmwares I found over the Internet such as
150708_B1_01_04.bin
160310_B1_33_00.bin

Neither of those seem to work, apparently the original firmware for this device is
150515_b1_0e_00.bin, I know that because that's the firmware it show in the logs before
flashing.

Apparently I need the specific firmware for this device, so if any of you folks have this unit and can give me a firmware dump I will really appreciate it.

You're right F5BJR, it is not that expensive, as a matter of fact I did purchase the unit at Amazon Store, past Oct/2016. However that price, after freight, insurance and customs becomes almost $50.00 when I receive it here in Costa Rica, with ~16 days delay for the item to travel from USA to CR, clear customs, pay fees and duties.

I even gave a call to Mediasonic Tech support, they ask me to return the item still under warranty, however to do that, according to local laws, I need to export the item, Serial Nbr will be recorded, pay Freight + Insurance to USA, and then repeat the process again to re-import the replaced item back to Costa Rica. If the serial Nbr do not match, I may be charged additional duties... A Big Pain in the neck... At this point, it will be less expensive to purchase a new one.

Back to the matter, I really believe is a firmware problem, and re-flashing the unit may be the least expensive solution, the problem is I do not have the original firmware.

About the SPI flash programmer, Is this the right one?
