I always get an error message "The custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity" no matter what the setting is.

My Laptop (Asus G751JM) has a 1920x1080 LG LP173WF4-SPD1 which is known to overclock 100Hz easily on non NVIDIA Optimus (no intel GPU) Asus G751. The interface shouldn't be an issue for bandwidth because it is connected through eDP internally.

My further research suggest that Intel Custom Resolution is completely broken as evident by many other people having the exact same issue.

The closest answer I stumbled upon is that people were able to use Intel Custom Resolution prior to upgrading to Windows 8.1 (and presumably with older intel driver) but I cannot find any info as to what driver version that is. LINK HERE

What Intel Graphics Driver Version (for HD 4600) has a working Custom Resolution?
