First of all, I have to say I'm not an expert; nor do I own this particular mobo. However I think I've read on this forum that in your case, what is happening is that the mobo is resetting the marvell bios to its previous settings. Others might be able to confirm this information. According to some people on this forum, who have experimented with this controller quite a lot, there is no great gain flashing the firmware.
That's why, for now, I would say you can stop worrying about it. Stay tuned for more information, though.

je viens dans le même espoir de hautes perf pour cette m.... de u3s6, j'ai voulu me faire plaisir est donné un pti coup de fouet a ma vieille config, donc papa noel ma donné un ssd corsair force 3 120gb et l'asus u3s6 et bon comme d'autre elle n'est reconnue qu'en pcie x1, first question: comment fait on pour forcer le mode pcie x4 dans le bios d'une p5kc?

d’après ce que j'ai pu lire ici même la carte serait une rev.1, le firmware est le 1028 et le pilote le 1003, peut on booster les perf de la carte sans risque majeur si oui comment?

j'ai entendu dire qu'il était possible de flashé le bios d'une p5kr sur la p5kc, est ce vraie et comment procède t'on?

ps: je suis un novice pur souche!

Tu n'a aucune chance de faire fonctionner ton U3S6 pci-express 2.0 en 4x
avec une carte mère doté d'un chipset P35 puisqu'elle n'est pas équipée de pci-express 2.0.

rappel :

pci-express 2.0 16x = 8Go/s
pci-express 2.0 4x = 2Go/s

pci-express 1.0 16x = 4Go/s
pci-express 1.0 4x = 1Go/s
pci-express 1.0 1x = 250Mo/s

De ce simple fait , si ta carte U3S6 est belle et bien reconnue en 1x comme tu nous le dis ,
elle n'est pas à même de fournir assez de bande passante à tous les connecteurs de l'U3S6
( 2x Sata III = 2x 600mo/s + 2x USB III = 2x 400mo/s )

Bref , tu n'a même pas de quoi profiter des débits d'une clé usb 3.0
au mieux de ses performances théoriques.

PS : pour le flash de bios de carte mère , oui tu peux , mais ça n'apportera strictement rien car il reste une absence de composant entre ces deux modèles que ton bios se fera un plaisir de rechercher au
boot et puisqu'il n'a aucune chance de le trouver , tu gagnera juste un boot plus long de ton pc.

merci hyperia pour cette info, je n'avais pas percuté le fait du pcie non 2.0, mais tu admettra que si j'arrive a forcé le bios pour le faire tourné mode fast pcie, je pourrais au moins quadruplé ma bande passante et donc avoir un benchmark meilleur, car mon pauvre ssd se traine a des cadences en écriture de environ 100mo/s et en lecture 180mo/s en séquentiel et je préfère même pas te parlé des résultats en 4k, ils sont ridicules!
ok pour le flash p5kr, je ne comptais pas vraiment le faire, je trouvais ça peut logique surtout pour récupérer l'ahci.

Je ne connais pas ce fameux mode " fast pcie " , si tu as une documentation la dessus , je suis preneur.
( entre nous , je ne crois aucunement que ce mode puisse multiplier ta bande passante par 4 ^^ )

Pour ce qui est de l'AHCI , c'est une bonne idée , cependant comme je le disais , tu obtiendra peut-être
ce mode après jailbreak de ta carte mère , mais il ne sera pas fonctionnel.

Ce qui me surprend le plus c'est que tu n'en bénéficie pas nativement ,
alors si effectivement il n'est pas disponible nativement , c'est que les composants de ta
carte mère n'en sont pas capable ( et pourtant c'est une fonctionnalité très fréquente dans les bios ).

Maintenant , à part passer sur une carte mère X38/X48 ( pour conserver ton cpu )
je ne vois pas comment tu pourra améliorer les performances de ton SSD.

Hi guys,

I tried to flash my U3S6 rev 1 card by using firmware "U3S6 Rev 1 (MV-9120) Version:1.0.0.1028" and i get always the message "No supported flash found!!"

Configuration: Asus P7P55D Premium with BIOS v2003, SATA 3 HDD WD4500HLHX, Win 7 64 bit.

When i try to use the SATA 3 feature from the card, the OS is freezing randomly and after one week of trying everything (including writing to Asus support) i am out of options to repair this card.

Please help!

I had the same problem than you, try to flash another bios and I think it will

no hard drive can take advantage of SATA speeds of 3, even a velociraptor

try flash : 9120 or 9123

Hi Hyperia, thanks for the idea.

I just tried all 8 firmware versions from section "Marvell MV-91xx" with the same result:
"No supported flash found!!"

I also try to boot from CD, USB, HDD with 4 DOS versions + Win XP. Same result.
I can not flash my card

PS: I can see the card in Windows 7 and boot from the SATA 3 hard disk connected to this card, but it keep freezing all the time for 3-4 minutes, every 15 minutes.

I see that your card uses Marvell chipset 9120
We will redo the walkthrough to be sure:

1 / Download this software: HP

2 / Use (using DOS system files Located at:) the following files to make a bootable key : win98boot

3-1 / Copy the 9120 firmware on your USB key (just the files with the folder "bin" and not the folder containing all 9120 or 9123

OR

3-2 / Copy the 9123 firmware on your USB key (just the files with the folder "bin" and not the folder containing all 9120 or 9123

(I suspect the site Marvell to have reversed the two firmwares)

4 / Disable other Marvell chips already in the bios of your motherboard! (if she has)

5 / Do not connect any hard drive to your motherboard or your card U3S6 during the operation! (Important)

6 / Does not make all these procedures with a USB key plugged directly into the card U3S6

et va a la page 24, tu verras que asus mentionne un mode x4 pour le slot pcie universel, donc j'aimerais trouvé cette fonction et l'activé ou tout du moins confirmé si il est actif ou non.

pour ce qui est de l'ahci, il fut un temps ou moins de 20 ans, oulah! je m’égare!
en fait pour une raison X peut être même XX, asus a décidé de la suppr de cette version de bios "1203"

au fait je viens de subir un BSOD x000f4, tu as une idée de ce que ça peut être?

hyperia, i tried the entire procedure again and i have the same message: "No supported flash found!!"
It must be something from the motherboard, somehow to mvf.exe tool does not see the card....

After the test, i tried also with Marvell chip from motherboard enabled and mvf.exe 'see' that chip.

Again i don't know what to do anymore, it could be that i need to test on another PC.... I hate this card!
