10.8.0.1003=20 Production Version

Notes:=20

1.=20 This=20 release is to resolve defects 3234763 and 3235920.  For more details refer = to the=20 following documents: IBP #487724 =93Intel=AE = Rapid Storage Technology: RAID 5 Volume Data Loss Exposure=94 and = IBP=20 #487730 =93Intel=AE Rapid Storage Technology: 4TB Disk Data Loss=20 Exposure=94. =20

Note:=20 To resolve 3234763 the RAID OROM must be updated to version = 10.8.0.1303=20 which is contained in the RAID OROM=20 and Utilities directory of this kit.  After updating the RAID = OROM, boot=20 the system to Windows* and run the VerifyMaker.exe utility which = is also=20 located in the RAID OROM = and=20 Utilities directory. =20 Contact your Intel field representative for further details = and=20 assistance.

2.=20 For this release, the RAID OROM version is 10.8.0.1303, the driver = and=20 user interface version is 10.8.0.1003.

3.=20 Known Issue is defined as a potential RST issue that has been = replicated=20 internally by the Rapid Storage Technology team but has not been = root=20 caused to be an RST defect.

4.=20 Specification=20 Clarification: This is a clarification of a previously = undocumented=20 limitation of the Intel=AE RST product for Rapid Recover = Technology volumes.=20 When creating an RRT Volume at least one = member disk=20 (master or recovery) must include 100% of the available = capacity of=20 the disk and the disk capacity must be less than or equal = to 1.3125=20 TB.

5. = When an ODD=20 is in the Zero Power state, some ODDs may disappear when a = hardware=20 re-scan is initiated via the Windows Device Manager.  A = second=20 hardware re-scan conducted before the Zero Power Idle Timeout = value is=20 reached (default is 60s) will return the drive to an OS visible=20 state. This behavior is believed to be related to the length = of time=20 an ODD requires to become ready during power on from the = zero-power state.=20

6.=20 Microsoft* .NET Framework 3.0 is required to be installed on the = system in=20 order for the Intel=AE Rapid Storage Technology User Interface to=20 install.  Note that = not all=20 Microsoft* Operating Systems have .NET 3.0 installed by = default.  Refer to the Microsoft* = website=20 for details.

7. A=20 Vista OS Installation using a Matrix RAID Array on a system with a = 9.5 or=20 newer OROM requires the user to F6 a 9.5 or newer = driver.

8.=20 Possible issue where RST is slow to start on Windows XP or = Vista=20 with .NET 3.0

Issue=20 description: = Under=20 certain network conditions, on systems with .NET 3.0, the RST = application=20 and notification icon (a.k.a. tray icon) may take about a minute = to start.=20

Resolution:=20 Contact Microsoft* to receive the hot fix described by KB article = 936707=20 or upgrade to .NET 3.5.

9.=20 Possible Issue regarding File writes on Windows XP with = Service Pack=20 2

Issue=20 description: = System=20 hangs, ERROR_NO_SYSTEM_RESOURCES or ERROR_NOT_ENOUGH_QUOTA = observed when=20 writing large numbers of files on Windows XP with Service Pack=20 2.

Resolution:=20 Contact Microsoft* to receive the hot fix described by KB article=20 888413.
